he Lifecycle of a Termite: An Unseen Gradual Within Destruction
Except for a few other varieties of insects that do so, termites are those minute insects that feed mainly on wood and make a great delicacy. But how long do they live?
Service: A Lifespan
The adult termite could live up to several years. Termite lifespan also depends on other factors including caste occupied, the environment and reproductive factors. Workers and bahadur caste, which are more dominant in the colony, usually matured within a span of few months to one year. Their relentless efforts and exposure to dangers diminish them.
The Edi and Wedi
The queen and the king are the breeders of the colony and they tend to have a longer life span. Under favorable conditions even a queen can live for several years depending on the ecologies including the length in-depth of her position. This is important for the perpetuity of the colony, her longevity guarantees a constant flow of eggs.
Other Causes of Deaths in Termites
In every species there are various elements that limit a termite’s life span such as:
Species of termites Some of the species of termites live longer than others.
Environmental conditions These include temperature, humidity of the environment or amount of food available to the termite.
Predators and parasites Such like exterminators and other natural killers can help reduce the lifespan of the termite drastically.
As short as they may appear in relation to human years, termites fully assist the ecosystem through the breakdown of dead woods. Thus, prophylaxis against termites simply consists of knowing their developmental stage.and
